Degu vs chinchilla- Which pet is most suitable for you

Degus are native to central and northern Chile and can be tamed if handled regularly and from an early age.

They are curious and playful creatures, who thrive on social interaction and activity.

Although degus are relatively quiet critters, they sometimes whistle or make quiet warbling sounds when grooming each other.

Chinchillas on the other hand are small and plush rodents native to South America. They are social creatures who live in herds from fourteen to one hundred chinchillas in the wild. They are low-maintenance and refrain from making unpleasant noises. Although Chinchillas are not technically nocturnal, they are at their most active in the evening and morning but often remain active throughout the day.

CHINCHILLA FOOD AND TREATS

Raisins are excellent treats for a chinchilla. They are used to reward when training your chinchilla and used to get them to carry out activities they don't want to carry out. However, avoid feeding your chinchilla too many raisins to make sure they still see it as a treat rather than food.

Even though chinchillas enjoy slices of fresh vegetables, like carrots, make sure you do not give them too much so they dont get diarrhea.

Chinchillas generally love a diet that is high in roughage.

While hay should be your pet's main food source, pellets can help supplement their meal, as long as they’re high-quality, hay-based pellets. Ensure you feed your chinchilla pellets supplemented with plenty of fresh grass hay
